How to Visit Your Child in Orange County Juvenile Hall

As an experienced Orange County juvenile defense attorney, our office is very familiar with visiting policies at OC juvie. There are a lot of rules to be familiar with, but taking the time in advance to educate yourself will make things go much smoother.
General Visiting Policies and Procedures
Always remember that visitations at OC juvie are a privilege, not a right, for both parents and inmates. Upon arrival, visitors must pass through a metal detector and metal items will be inspected. Visitors must check-in 15 minutes before their scheduled visiting time. Everyone must fill out a visitor’s pass and provide necessary documentation. Only a valid government-issued picture ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, is acceptable. Furthermore, you may bring your child magazines and paperback books on appropriate subject matters that have the inmate’s name marked on them. Any reading material you bring in will be thoroughly inspected. Additionally, visitors may be arrested for attempting to bring in drugs, weapons, or alcohol. Finally, be aware that, at the staff’s discretion, a visit can be terminated at any time. Visiting access can be denied indefinitely as well.
